Biography

Melissa is an award-winning actor, writer and producer, well known for her live performances as the character Lupe, which garnered her a Canadian Comedy Award Nomination, and and award for The Best of the Toronto Fringe in 2008. Melissa has worked with several theatre organizations including: Canadian Stage, Buddies in Bad Times, Harbourfront Centre and the Luminato Festival, to name but a few.

She also recently co-produced the hit production of Savage in Limbo, and the Toronto Premiere of The Motherfucker with the Hat through her new company Bob Kills Theatre. Her work has been funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council on numerous occasions, and she is the recipient of Creators’ Reserves from The Theatre Centre and Cahoots Theatre Project.

Melissa can be seen in the feature films: Hunter’s Moon, and Renaissance, and has produced and starred-in several web projects including the viral sensations Wolverine vs. Gladiator in Les Miserables, Kinder Surprise: Gender Surprise and Man of Steel Song, which won the Silver Dragon at the DragonCon Film Festival in Atlanta.

An accomplished coach/teacher, Melissa has been a regular instructor at the Toronto Film School, and a guest sessional instructor at the University of Toronto and Max the Mutt School of Animation. She has also worked as an instructor/mentor for the AMY Project, the Paprika Festival, Children’s Peace Theatre, Canadian Stage, Theatre Revolve, and the Royal Conservatory of Music.
